What Is Better Vinyl Or Acrylic Awning ?

VINYL FABRICS -  Vinyl fabrics come in two different types: laminated and coated. Laminated vinyl is considered the standard awning fabric. It is strong, waterproof, and durable for medium to large awnings. Coated vinyl is higher quality and is the most durable of the vinyl fabrics. It is also strong, waterproof, and durable for any size project. But coated vinyl is also stain resistant, which could come in handy during the spring and fall months. Vinyl fabrics are easily maintained. There are some downfalls to choosing vinyl fabrics. Although this fabric is durable, it is also not breathable as other fabric choices. It is also not as flexible as others, which could result in tears if you live in a windy area. This fabric also doesn’t come in as many color and pattern choices as other fabrics.  Many vinyl fabrics come with a five, eight, or 10 year warranty. ACRYLIC FABRICS -  This fabric is extremely durable and repels water effectively. There is a wi...

Benefits Of An Awning

1. Energy Savings -  The benefits of an Awning go far beyond aesthetic appeal.  It’s true that awnings can enhance the look of your place of residence, but the real gem is that awnings save energy and protect furniture, floors and carpets from fading. 2. Weather Protection -  Awnings and Canopies can offer protection from the sun, rain, snow, sleet and hail.  The will direct rain away from the brick or siding surrounding your windows and doors.  This will extend the life of the sealant around your windows thus protecting you from expensive repairs in the future. 3. Architectural Aesthetics -  Creative designers and architects can develop useful and intriguing designs for modern awning and canopy systems that incorporate shape, light, color, texture, graphics and structure, at modest cost. 4. Extend Your Living Space -  Awnings or canopies built off a patio or deck provide a cool and relaxing extension of your li...

Draperies

Drapery is a general word referring to cloths or textiles . It may refer to cloth used for decorative purposes – such as around windows – or to the trade of retailing cloth, originally mostly for clothing, formerly conducted by drapers. Drapery styles are made from a heavier and lined fabric. Often draperies are fixed and only frame a window opening. Draperies are nearly always floor length. Draperies are ideal for making a bold statement in a room. The use of intense colors and patterns combined with their bulk make them a strong element in the decor of a room. Types Of Draperies : Cafe - curtains that obscure only the bottom half of the window, affording privacy or obscuring an undesirable view from a window. Occasionally, may include an upper treatment of an arched or tapered valance.  Sheer - a translucent curtain which filters light and affords some privacy. Typically used in tandem with a heavier curtain or drapery.  Lace - similar to sheers...

Curtains

A curtain is a piece of cloth intended to block or obscure light , or drafts, or water in the case of a shower curtain . A curtain is also the movable screen or drape in a theater that separates the stage from the auditorium or that serves as a backdrop. Curtains hung over a doorway are known as portières . Curtains are often hung on the inside of a building's windows to block the passage of light, for instance at night to aid sleeping , or to stop light from escaping outside the building (stopping people outside from being able to see inside, often for privacy reasons). Curtains come in a variety of shapes, materials, sizes, colors and patterns, and they often have their own sections within department stores , while some shops are completely dedicated to selling curtains. Curtains vary according to cleanability, ultraviolet light deterioration, oil and dust retention, noise absorption, fire resistance, and life span. Types Of Curtains : 1. Box Pleated Curtains B...

Canopy

A canopy is an overhead roof or else a structure over which a fabric or metal covering is attached, able to provide shade or shelter from weather conditions such as sun, hail, snow and rain. A canopy can also be a tent , generally without a floor . The word comes from the Ancient Greek κωνώπειον ( konópeion , "cover to keep insects off"), from κώνωψ ( kónops , "cone-face"), which is a bahuvrihi compound meaning " mosquito ". The first 'o' changing into 'a' may be due to influence from the place name Canopus, Egypt thought of as a place of luxuries. Architectural canopies include projections giving protection from the weather, or merely decoration. Such canopies are supported by the building to which they are attached and often also by a ground mounting provided by not less than two stanchions , or upright support posts. Canopies can also stand alone, such as a fabric covered gazebo or cabana . Fabric canopies can meet...

Awnings

An awning or overhang is a secondary covering attached to the exterior wall of a building. It is typically composed of canvas woven of acrylic , cotton or polyester yarn, or vinyl laminated to polyester fabric that is stretched tightly over a light structure of aluminium , iron or steel , possibly coot or transparent material (used to cover solar thermal panels in the summer, but that must allow as much light as possible in the winter).  The configuration of this structure is something of a truss , space frame or planar frame . Awnings are also often constructed of aluminium understucture with aluminium sheeting . These aluminium awnings are often used when a fabric awning is not a practical application where snow load as well as wind loads may be a factor. The location of an awning on a building may be above a window , a door , or above the area along a sidewalk . With the addition of columns an awning becomes a canopy , which is able to extend furthe...
